Greenfield Basket factory has been manufacturing baskets since 1933, before that, it was a saw mill in the village of Little Hope, Pennsylvania. Here at Greenfield Basket Factory, we start from the log, which are poplar, beech, hickory and sycamore that are delivered to the factory by local loggers. From the log we cut it to size that is needed for each basket, the pieces are then braided by the employees, then formed and stapled together, after that they are dried in a kiln. then they are ready for shipping.
When the company started out, it only was producing the 4 and 8 quart till baskets, over the years we have increased our line to over making round and rectangle baskets until COVID pandemic in 2020 when we decreased production to just round baskets. The factory started out in an old barn, which is still used. Today it is in the center of the factory; it has been re-roofed and added onto many times as the company has grown.
With having around 10 employees, we are a small enough company that we know each other pretty well. We are very proud of the hard work and dedication that our employee’s have for their jobs.
